eBay and Amazon lead the pack among July shopping destinations

Auction site eBay Inc. was the top online shopping destination in July with 59.8 million unique visitors who spent a total of 1 hour and 46 minutes per person on the site, according to the latest figures from research firm Nielsen/NetRatings. Amazon.com came in second with 43.1 million unique visitors who spent a total of nearly 24 minutes per person on the site.

The top 10 online shopping destinations for July, with unique visitors (in millions), time spent per person (in hours and minutes) and growth (of unique visitors) over July 2006, were:

  • eBay, 59.83, 1:46, 4%
  • Amazon, 43.09, 0:23, 15%
  • Target, 25.11, 0:10, 27%
  • Wal-Mart Stores, 22.31, 0:12, 14%
  • Shopzilla.com Network, 19.63, 0:02, 14%
  • Shopping.com Network, 18.39, 0:02, 11%
  • Dell, 17.48, 0:15, 4%
  • Expedia, 16.90, 0:12, 8%
  • Orbitz Worldwide Network, 15.51, 0:13, 27%
  • Travelocity, 14.50, 0:12, 15%
(Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times that shopper visited.)

Nielsen/NetRatings’ AdRelevance report ranks the following as the top 10 consumer goods advertisers by online ad impressions (in millions):

  • Hydroderm Beverly Hills, 411.6
  • The Coca-Cola Co., 383.7
  • iQ Cosmetics, 228.9
  • Unilever, 209.5
  • Diageo PLC, 199.5
  • TriClear, 164.0
  • Mars Inc., 140.5
