INDUSTRY-LEADING CREDIT CARD COMPLIANCE, IMPROVED DATA ACCESS TOPS UPGRADES TO COMMERCIALWARE’S RETAIL SOFTWARE SUITE
New Versions of CWDirect, CWStore and CWCollabrate Boost Integrated, Cross-Channel Performance, Meet Demand for Higher Credit Card Security
Natick, MA – June 16, 2005 – CommercialWare Inc., the leading provider of multi-channel commerce infrastructure solutions for retailers, today announced that it has released new versions of CWDirect, CWStore, and CWCollaborate to help retail enterprises comply with pending industry credit card security standards. The new software releases also provide secure access to customer data, centralized supply chain management, and improved integration across the company’s products.
Driven by consumer and retailer demand to address online credit card fraud, CWDirect 9.0 now enables retailers to activate features to further encrypt credit card data stored in the database, cloak credit card numbers, remove the CVV/CID number after authorization, and deliver an audit trail of when credit card data is viewed. These enhancements, built into the new version of CWDirect, give retailers the ability to meet Visa and MasterCard requirements that go into effect starting June 30. Failure to comply with the new rules could expose retailers to penalties up to $500,000.
“Online purchasing is part of American retailing, but with consumers increasingly concerned about theft of their credit card information, it’s critical for retailers to secure that information,” said Donny Askin, founder and CEO of CommercialWare. “Our investment and upgrades to CWDirect support compliance with the new credit card standards and benefits both the retailer and consumers.”
The other enhancements to the product suite deliver yet another crucial component to multi-channel retailing – the ability for all segments of a retailer’s infrastructure to access and update data stored in CWDirect. The new interfaces allow, for example, a telephone customer service representative to retrieve and access customer history that includes on-line, retail, and catalog activity. CWDirect’s open architecture allows data to flow between channels regardless of the POS solution, order entry mechanism, or other modules in place.
“Multi-channel retailing is about treating unique customers uniquely, and a vital component to delivering on that is access to knowledge about the customer and their transaction activity.” said Askin. “The enhancements to CWDirect give retailers the ability to more effectively perform just-in-time marketing by adding up selling and cross-selling messages to confirmation or delivery emails.”
Version 9.0 of CWStore allows retailers to offer their customers the ultimate flexibility in delivery options. Whether a purchase is made online or in a retail store, the merchandise can be delivered directly to the customer or to any of the retail outlets. This leverages the use of CWLocate to find a desired item anywhere in the retailer’s infrastructure, a feature that is particularly valuable for high-end retailers, where only one or two units of expensive merchandise may be in stock at any given time.
CWCollabrate 3.0 brings enhancements to the product’s hybrid supply chain or drop-ship management features. Software improvements now allow a retailer to better follow orders through the entire process of shipping merchandise directly from a vendor to a consumer. Activities CWCollaborate now tracks include order changes and revisions as well as the day-to-day intricacies of order details. This audit trail provides enterprises with improved tools and information to evaluate the performances of vendors.
The new suite of CommercialWare technology for managing point of sale, back office, order management and fulfillment, customer service, and e-commerce software is immediately available directly from CommercialWare.
