Adlex Launches UserVisibility Web: DoubleClick To Implement New Performance Management Appliance
Adlex, Inc.
announced today the general availability of UserVisibility Web, a new
appliance for use by enterprise Web sites for monitoring the actual
response time all users experience when interacting with the Web site.
It joins the existing family of Adlex UserVisibility performance
management appliances. Adlex is a provider of "all-in-one" performance
management appliances that monitor all traffic to determine the actual
response times experienced by individual users of applications using
Internet, WAN or VPN networks.
Adlex also announced DoubleClick, Inc. (Nasdaq: DCLK), the leading
digital marketing solutions company will implement UserVisibility Web
after a successful beta program, and will use it to help manage and
monitor the performance of its DART (Dynamic Advertising Reporting
Targeting) system. DART is a Web-based service that enables sites and
networks to manage their ad management, serving and reporting
functions through DoubleClick`s central servers. With a distributed
system architecture and ad servers located throughout the world, DART
offers the scalability, reliability and power needed to deliver any
volume of ads.
UserVisibilityWeb measures the actual response time experienced by
every remote user by simply observing the network data going to and
leaving a customer`s data center. It provides response time
measurement and diagnostics based upon key metrics for transaction or
page load time, round trip time, retransmissions and actual user
throughput.
DoubleClick will implement UserVisibility Web to monitor and
manage its DART system to ensure that DoubleClick`s customers are
providing the best response time to each and every visitor responding
to an online ad served by DART.

What makes UserVisibility Web different is that it monitors all
traffic at a "user session level" (differentiating it from RMON2-based
probe approaches), providing actual performance of "individual or
aggregated users" at the instant they are accessing "every page or
transaction." Implementation is via a passive probe that does not
generate its own traffic for measurement, and does not require actual
traffic to pass through it, and thus, is also not a point of failure.
The Adlex probe is only installed at the data center where the
application servers reside. It is device-independent (it collects its
own data -- not from any other devices like servers or routers) and
non-intrusive (it does not require any software agents on the client
side or software integration on the application code or server side).
Adlex monitors both Web http and SSL traffic.
"Companies like DoubleClick need to know the response time they
are delivering to their customers," said Tad Witkowicz, President and

performance of their users relied on simulations and estimates to gain
insight into the user response time issue. We enable them to determine

real-time or post-facto troubleshooting, trending analysis or capacity
planning.
