Triversity Streamlines Data Communications for Multi-site, Multi-channel Retailers
Transnet 1.0 offers retailers centralized management and
file transfer across multiple locations
TORONTO - April 4, 2001 - Triversity Inc., a leading software provider delivering integrated multi-channel, customer-centric solutions for the retail industry, today announced the availability of Transnet 1.0, a multi-platform file transfer solution connecting retail applications through a secure, seamless communications network.
Supporting Triversity`s multi-channel and customer-centric approach, Transnet helps retailers deliver centralized services, applications and reporting to multiple locations, establishing information consistency across the retail chain, be it physical stores, kiosks or the Internet. For example, individual stores can send transactional data (commonly called TLogs) to head office for consolidation and summary; head office can distribute pricing and configuration information to stores, maintaining standardization of communication and data integrity.
"Providing connectivity between stores and head office is a key competitive platform in retailing today," said David Thomas, president and CEO of Triversity Inc. "Transnet is designed to transfer information in off-line batch or real-time modes, resulting in centralized and streamlined business and administrative processes for our retail customers."
One such Triversity customer, The Shoe Company, has been successfully using Transnet since mid-2000 to increase operating efficiency and accurately predict retail market trends.
"With Transnet, The Shoe Company automatically receives daily consolidations, inventory updates and transaction reports from our warehouse and all our retail outlets. Armed with up-to-date data, we can quickly analyze trends and revise our processes in a timely manner to meet - and foresee - the demands of this ever-changing market," said Peter Gerhardt, senior vice president, The Shoe Company.
Transet File Transfer
Transnet 1.0`s core feature, Transnet File Transfer, is based on TPS/Network File Manager software from TPSŪ Systems, Inc., a global connectivity and networking software provider.
According to Barry Engelbrecht, president of TPS Systems, Inc., "The integration of Triversity and TPS Systems` proven technology will connect retail applications with an unparalleled ability to combine transaction processing and customer relationship management across all points of interaction, allowing retailers to manage their customer lifecycle on a seamless, one-to-one basis."
Designed based on industry standards, Transnet File Transfer supports different client configurations and communications protocols. The server software operates in Linux and Windows NT environments, while the client software runs on Windows, Unix and other operating systems found in a retail enterprise. All configuration features are available through a Java-based configuration tool.
