Yahoo remained the leading delivery channel for opt-in e-mails in January
Yahoo, Hotmail and AOL remained the predominant delivery channels for opt-in commercial e-mail during January, according to a new report from Lyris Technology.
During January, 26% of U.S. Internet users received opt-in commercial e-mails via Yahoo, 21% via Hotmail and 13% via AOL. Only 8% of users received opt-in e-mail through their work e-mail accounts, Lyris reported.
“What’s most interesting about these results is that fewer American consumers are using work e-mail accounts as the delivery vehicle for opt-in commercial e-mails,” said David Dabbah, director of sales and marketing.
The survey also found that 30% of U.S. Internet users have only one e-mail account, 37% have two e-mail accounts, 19% have three accounts and 13% have 14 or more accounts.
The poll results were based on 126 responses from a nationally representative sample based on age, gender, and income during January.
