BabyCenter LLC has relaunched its web site with new personalization options for the home page and content navigation, a new site search engine and greater emphasis on community and how-to features.
“The new version of BabyCenter.com will combine new technologies with our core features including content, community and commerce while giving moms the opportunity to personalize the site to meet their own very specific needs,” says Tina Sharkey, chairman and global president of the 10-year-old BabyCenter LLC.
New features at BabyCenter.com include the ability for visitors to customize their experience on the site based on the stage of their pregnancy or age of their child. A proprietary engine creates a customer-specific home page and site experience by integrating different content into a visitor’s navigation through the site, based on initial data provided by the visitor.
A new Q & A area allows parents-to-be to ask questions and get answers from the BabyCenter community. A new custom-built site search engine serves up results drawn from across BabyCenter’s content, community and commerce areas. A search under “breastfeeding,” for example, returns articles on the topic, tips from other moms, product recommendations, how-to videos, and relevant news.
A new blog, Momformation, offers additional topical content. The relaunched site also debuts with a photo gallery that showcases visual how-to's—for instance, how to give a baby a massage—as well as photos from the community.
