Retailer Gets Boost In System Upgrade Efforts

Williams-Sonoma Inc. has purchased data analysis software from Evoke Software® Corp. to help the retail giant better leverage its data assets.
“We selected Evoke Software to help us evaluate new software applications and integrate them into our managed data environment for maximum gain,” said Linda Bronson, director of information resources and architecture at Williams-Sonoma. “Evoke will help us complete our system upgrades and data migrations faster and with greater confidence.”
Williams-Sonoma purchased the software as part of an overall effort to upgrade its core systems such as order management, inventory management, marketing and warehouse management. The company will rely on Evoke Software to analyze the quality of its data prior to any conversion efforts related to the implementation of newly acquired or developed systems. Evoke Software will aid in accelerating implementation timelines by catching data errors early in the development life cycle.
Evoke’s software will serve as the cornerstone technology of Williams-Sonoma’s corporate data strategy. The software will enable Williams-Sonoma to gain a complete and ongoing understanding of its corporate data structure and content and will facilitate the development of strategies and procedures for effectively managing its data in the future.
Williams-Sonoma selected Evoke after a competitive process because of the software’s unique ability to discover hidden data problems by analyzing the precise quality, structure and content of each row and column in multiple, disparate databases. Such detailed data understanding would have taken too long to perform manually. Evoke will shorten the timeline by automating the process.
