The Tie Bar knows that some men don't know—or don't care—which tie goes with which shirt, and which of those goes with what jacket. So the merchant makes coordinating colors easy. Each tie product page lists a selection of colored-shirts and suits that go with each tie. The Navy English Plaid tie, for example, matches eight shirts colors, seven suit colors—including pin stripe—and it can be worn with no suit. The Tie Bar manufactures its products to sell directly to consumers. This allows the retailer to pass on savings to the consumer. All ties on TheTieBar.com go for $15 apiece and the retailer ships all orders for a flat rate of $5.99. In September, investment firm Chicago Growth Partners acquired a majority stake in The Tie Bar, though both declined to reveal the size of the investment.
