Lolly Wolly Doodle, a five-year-old manufacturer and retailer of customized apparel for women and children, is socially hot. 55% of orders come through "social sales," including orders placed via Facebook and timed sales in the Wonder Wall and Doodle Deals sections of; the rest are fixed-price sales on the main site. Facebook fans comment on newsfeed posts of new products, then receive an e-mailed invoice they can click to pay via PayPal or a credit card. With its own factory in North Carolina, Lolly Wolly offers a changing mix of more than 50 items for sale, including up to 20 that are brand new each day. It also designs apparel around social media comments, and its factory is set up to quickly scale up production of popular styles, chief operating officer Emily Hickey says.
