| Why They're Hot: |
There's nothing quite like a greeting card from JacquieLawson.com. Delivered by e-mail, one click sets the card in motion: charming images, beautifully drawn and painted, move through an animated sequence, accompanied by captivating music. The card ends with the sender's personal greeting. U.K.-based artist Jacquie Lawson has been selling her e-cards online since 2002, and the technical work, including a recently introduced iPad app, is done In-house. But the focus is on the artwork. "We're very keen on the traditional artistic qualities of paint and pencils, and very often the backgrounds and other artwork start life on good old-fashioned art paper," says co-founder and musical arranger Michael Hughes-Chamberlain. A holiday favorite, the site attracted 26 million unique visitors in December 2011.
