Live chat vendor LivePerson Inc. registered solid growth in revenue and earnings in the third quarter.
For Q3 ended Sept. 30, LivePerson reports:
- Revenue of $22.3 million, up 15% from $19.4 million in the same quarter in 2008 and an 8% increase from the second quarter of this year.
- Net income of $2.3 million, more than five times its earnings of $400,000 in Q3 a year ago.
"We exceeded our own expectations for both revenue and earnings in the third quarter, as many of our key operating metrics improved markedly as compared to the first half of 2009," says CEO Robert LoCascio. "Strong revenue growth from both consumer and business operations coupled with record earnings indicates that we are managing effectively through a challenging economic environment. We are winning more deals against our competition, our sales pipeline continues to strengthen and we are seeing ever larger companies committing more resources to our hosted online solutions."
LivePerson’s business segment, which represents 87% of its revenue, includes the hosted live chat services it provides some 8,000 small businesses and 300 larger organizations; its consumer business revenue comes from a web site where experts provide advice directly to consumers.
For the first nine months of the year, LivePerson reports:
- Revenue of $62.7 million, up 13.9% from $55.0 million a year ago.
- Net income of $4.7 million, compared with $7,000 in the first three quarters of 2008.
LivePerson projects Q4 revenue in the range of $23.4 to $23.7 million, and full-year revenue of $86.1 to $86.4 million. The company reported $74.7 million in revenue in 2008, which was an increase of 43% from 2007.
