Walmart.com leads in e-commerce traffic growth
Walmart.com saw a 10% jump in traffic last month compared to a year earlier, Nielsen reports. Verizon Wireless, however, saw the biggest traffic growth increase for the month. Its traffic rose 14%.
Once again, eBay and Amazon battled for the No. 1 slot in terms of traffic to retail sites for the month. In September, Amazon beat eBay with 51.51 million visitors. EBay posted 50.61 million unique visitors.
The Top 10 online retail destinations in September, ranked by unique visitors in millions this September and last, with year-over-year growth, according to Nielsen Online, were:
- Amazon, 51.51, 47.31, 9%
- eBay, 50.61, 55.84, -3%
- AT&T, 28.81, 31.45, -8%
- Wal-Mart Stores, 26.22, 23.80, 10%
- Adobe, 24.59, 27.49, -11%
- Real, 19.91, 27.23, -27%
- Target, 19.71, 23.36, -16%
- Verizon Wireless, 18.75, 16.51, 14%
- Netflix, 14.87, 13.99, 6%
- Best Buy, 14.51, 13.525, 7%
Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times that shopper visited. This is a custom list compiled by Internet Retailer of the top e-commerce sites based on Nielsen Online data. Rankings may contain multiple web sites from the same retailer or manufacturer.
The top 10 consumer goods advertisers in terms of online ad impressions (in millions) in September, according to Nielsen data, were:
