For CVS customers, just what the doctor ordered: refills on the go

CVS/pharmacy believes it has just what the doctor ordered for customers on the move—CVS.com Mobile, a mobile commerce web site. The site, m.CVS.com, provides customers a secure, on-the-go pharmacy resource to find store locations and refill, transfer and manage prescriptions.

“The new CVS.com Mobile site is a helpful resource for customers who rely on real-time access to their medication history or drug information, or simply need help with driving directions or a phone number to a nearby CVS/pharmacy or MinuteClinic,” says Helena Foulkes, chief marketing officer at CVS Caremark Corp., No. 82 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

CVS.com Mobile, built by mobile technology vendor Usablenet Inc., can be accessed from any mobile device. By entering a ZIP code, customers can use the m-commerce site to locate the closest CVS/pharmacy store, complete with maps and driving directions. Customers also can use CVS.com Mobile to quickly refill or transfer prescriptions, access detailed pharmaceutical information, and view their prescription histories. Additionally, the new mobile site features a Drug Information Center allowing rapid access to critical details about medication management, including instructions for use, dosing information, side effects and relevant safety warnings.

CVS/pharmacy, the retail division of CVS Caremark Corp., has also expanded its online capabilities on CVS.com by introducing Savings Central and Virtual Gift Cards features. Savings Central combines information about health care savings with other deals and discounts in one location. By clicking on the Savings Central tab, budget-conscious customers can immediately discover ways to save money through coupons and special promotions, with tabbed pages detailing pharmacy savings, the circular, in-store coupons, and online sales and specials.

The retailer also has introduced Virtual Gift Cards, an interactive feature on CVS.com that allows customers to personalize the look and feel of a virtual gift card by selecting color schemes, messages and fonts. Customers also can upload a photo or image to enhance the card’s design.
