Every successful web site design should be based on providing an excellent end-to-end customer experience from the time a shopper arrives on a site until she checks out, Lynnette Montgomery, vice president, direct marketing, at online retailers Performance Bicycle and Nashbar.
"Designing a web site must have the end-to-end customer experience in mind," says Montgomery, who will address site design best practices as a speaker at the Internet Retailer Web Design & Usability 2010 Conference in Orlando, FL, in February.
"I will cover best practices and key rules that should be followed with every site redesign from an individual page to a full-scale overhaul,” she says. “Key areas of consideration should be third-party e-commerce technology enhancements, improved navigation, standardized page designs and research-supported placement of key elements on a page to achieve optimum customer engagement with the site."
