Two executives hop up the corporate ladder at Playboy

Playboy Enterprises, No. 203 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, has promoted two executives, both of whom have web responsibilities.

The publishing company and online retailer has named Alex L. Vaickus to the newly created position of president, with responsibility for all of Playboy’s business operations, including print, television, digital media properties and licensing. Vaickus, currently executive vice president of Playboy Enterprises and president of global licensing, will continue to report to CEO Scott Flanders.

In addition, the company has announced Scott G. Stephen, executive vice president of Playboy Digital, has been named executive vice president of the Print/Digital Group, adding responsibilities for print publications, including Playboy magazine, to the online and mobile properties he already manages. Stephen will report to Vaickus.

"Our brand is the common bond that ties together our many businesses and the centerpiece of our growth strategy,” Flanders says. “Today's reorganization more tightly integrates our businesses to enable a more collaborative operation that fosters creativity and drives growth more efficiently.”

Vaickus joined Playboy in 1998 after five years with ConAgra Inc. and 12 years with Sara Lee Corp.

Stephen was chief operating officer of e-mail marketing company Yesmail before he joined Playboy in 2003 as senior vice president of the online business. He subsequently was promoted to executive vice president of worldwide digital, assuming responsibility for the company’s online and mobile businesses.
