Direct Brands Inc., a direct marketer of books and music, has hired online and retailing veteran Deborah Fine as president and CEO.
Fine most recently was president of iVillage Properties, a division of NBC Universal Digital Media that operates the iVillage.com community web site for women and other web communities. She previously was CEO of Victoria’s Secret Pink, where she helped develop the brand’s web strategy, and president of Avon Future where she launched Mark, a cosmetic and accessory business that targeted buyers and sellers through the web and other direct channels. Before Avon, she spent 23 years in the media business, including as publisher of Conde Nast’s Glamour and Brides magazines.
Direct Brands and its sister company Bookspan, owned by Najafi Companies, operate such brands as Book-of-the-Month Club, Columbia House, Doubleday Book Club and The Literary Guild, which allow consumers to sign up and make selections online. The company claims more than 6.5 million consumers as members of its clubs.
