Sears’ mobile site and app get a sister in Kmart2go.com

Sears Holdings Corp. has been at the forefront of mobile commerce with an m-commerce site, mobile app and text messaging program. Now it has added an m-commerce site for its Kmart brand.

“We knew that our Kmart.com customers were visiting the regular site using mobile devices but could see from their comments, our usability analysis and the site stats that they wanted more,” says Tom Emmons, team lead for mobile/innovation at Sears. “Our customers needed a true mobile experience with a focus on speed, usability and utility.”

Kmart2go.com gives mobile shoppers access to the entire inventory found on the e-commerce site. The m-commerce site lets customers shop via search or by product category. It also highlights weekly advertisements, enables phone and e-mail links to personal shoppers, offers a store locator, and allows customers to check order status.

Sears, No. 7 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, built the site with mobile technology vendor Usablenet Inc.
