E-mail marketing app helps drive record growth at Coremetrics, CEO says

With a strong boost from demand for its LIVEmail e-mail marketing application, the third quarter of this year marked the strongest ever in revenue for web analytics and marketing optimization provider Coremetrics, CEO Joe Davis tells Internet Retailer.

“Q3 was our best quarter ever for revenue and new bookings,” he says. “It blew the doors off past quarters.” He adds that profitability was also strong in the quarter and that a profitable second quarter had also set records in revenue and new bookings.

Helping to drive growth, he adds, is strong demand for add-on applications that build on Coremetrics’ core web analytics technology platform, such as LIVEmail 3, an e-mail marketing optimization application that links analytics data on customer profiles and shopping activity with a retailer’s e-mail marketing management system.

The strongest Coremetrics add-on application recorded in recent bookings, Davis notes, was Intelligent Offer, which helps retailers manage cross-sell and upsell merchandising offers.

In a move designed to expand the growth of LIVEmail, meanwhile, Coremetrics announced yesterday an agreement with Munich, Germany-based online marketing firm eCircle to integrate LIVEmail with eCircle’s eC-messenger e-mail marketing management system for sending relevant, personalized e-mails to consumers.

Coremetrics says it will track eCircle e-mail campaign data to enable marketers to create personalized, tailor-made landing pages for customers, in addition to generating automated, event-triggered, targeted e-mails that maximize conversions, recover abandoned shopping carts and support cross-selling and upselling.

“Industry research shows that up to 75% of online shoppers abandon their shopping baskets,” says Volker Wiever, eCircle CEO. “Our partnership with Coremetrics means that our customers can now use online behavioral data to automatically target shoppers who have previously abandoned their shopping carts.”
