Newegg.com led the way in end-to-end transaction time for August at 8.40 seconds, according to Gomez Inc. Among top retailers tested, Newegg beat the average—16.92 seconds--by better than half.
Gomez tested 17 top retailers in August and gauged the total time it took to complete a transaction from end-to-end for each of the following pages: home, search results, product description, shopping cart, login and order review. Gomez test methodology includes selecting the first product result displayed; making any required color, size or other choices, and adding to the cart; and continuing to the checkout process. Gomez has established account profiles with the retailers in the test and navigates shipping and payment verification processes as needed.
The Retail Product Order Benchmark test showed OfficeDepot.com was second fastest at 8.85 seconds, followed by Apple.com (10.04 seconds), Overstock.com (10.79 seconds) and OfficeMax.com (11.68 seconds). Williams-Sonoma.com turned in the slowest overall time at 35.05 seconds.
