Zappos.com led a group of 28 major retailers that achieved an “excellent” web site consistency rating in August, according to Gomez. The top 49 retail web sites measured last month had an average rating of “excellent” and average site availability rate of 92.17%.
Rounding out the top five retailers after Zappos.com’s 97.39% availability rating, Gomez listed Macys.com (96.91%), AmwayGlobal.com and Newegg.com (tied with 96.84%) and Chadwicks.com (96.471%).
In August, 13 major retailers received a rating of “good,” eight rated “fair” and none was rated “poor.”
The consistency ratings take into account differences in the speed of web page delivery across multiple visits and the frequency a retail site is unavailable because of downtime. The variability of response time and the number of minutes down are combined to create each retailer's consistency rating, Gomez says.
