Sears Holdings Corp. has added the eBillme payment option to its web sites, allowing shoppers to pay for purchases through Internet bill payment services.
When a shopper chooses the eBillme option the retailer sends an invoice for the purchase amount to the shopper’s e-mail address. She then pays the invoice through an online bill-pay system, as though it were a utility bill or mortgage payment. Once payment is made, the goods are shipped. The eBillme option is available at Sears.com and sister sites Kmart.com and Kenmore.com.
"We recognize the importance of offering customers a wide selection of payment options at the checkout," says Susan Ehrlich, senior vice president of Sears and president of Sears Holdings' Financial Services business unit. "EBillme gives us the ability to let our customers pay with money from their online checking accounts without having to provide their account information as part of the transaction. Our customers have changed their payment behavior to adapt to this difficult economy. eBillme complements our efforts to continuously serve our customers and deliver a quality and affordable retail experience."
Sears.com also accepts major credit cards, Sears’ own credit card and PayPal.
