E-commerce stocks gained last week, but could not keep pace with the healthy advance of the broader market.
A 0.94% increase for the Internet Retailer Online Retail Index lagged the 1.98% jump in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the 2.20% gain for the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index. For the year, however, the Online Retail Index is ahead 56.7%, while the Dow is up 8.3% and the S&P 500 13.6%.
Seventeen of the 25 stocks in the Online Retail Index advanced last week, led by online music and video retailer RealNetworks, whose shares gained 11.3%.
