Web-only replacement part retailer Partsearch Technologies recently sold its 5 millionth part, and is enjoying strong sales growth as more consumers fix household items, seeking to save money and protect the environment, the retailer says.
"Americans have a new mindset because of the current economy and the green movement," says Gary Kazmer, president of Partsearch Technologies, No. 350 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. "People are fixing and maintaining their household goods more than ever before. We are proud to have helped repair 5 million electronic and appliance products and slow the growth of landfill sites around the country."
Sales went up 28% in the last quarter compared to a year ago, according to the retailer, which sells online at PartStore.com. The e-commerce site offers over 8 million parts for such household items as air conditioners, power adapters, batteries, cables, lamps and water filters. The company was established in 2001.
