For the second year in a row, the Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition has been named one of the 50 fastest-growing trade shows in North America by Tradeshow Week magazine. The magazine’s 2009 Fastest 50 Awards recognize shows which grew at the fastest rates during the period from 2006 through 2008. Tradeshow Week named The Internet Retailer Conference the fastest-growing show last year.
The Fastest 50 awards, along with recognition of the No. 1 fastest growing, will be presented in November at a ceremony in Houston sponsored by Tradeshow Week. The award recognizes fastest growth in exhibit hall square footage. IRCE 2009
in Boston hosted 50,600 rented square feet and 370 booths, up from 46,300 rented square feet and 329 booths the year before.
“At last November’s Fastest 50 Ceremony, IRCE was awarded with the top ranking as the fastest growing overall conference in North America—a stunning achievement,” says Jack Love, publisher of Internet Retailer which sponsors IRCE. “We won’t know until later this year whether we achieved the top spot for a second year in a row. I think we have a decent shot at it, because our 2008 show, which is the new show in the three-year measurement period, grew at an impressive rate while many other shows were flat or declining due to the impact of the first full year of economic recession.”
IRCE 2009 attracted nearly 5,000 participants, just slightly below the more than 5,100 that attended in June 2008, before the recession fully took hold. The 2010 Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition will take place June 8-11 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
