Harry Rosen Inc., a Toronto-based retail chain of 15 stores that sell men’s apparel and accessories, has launched HarryRosen.com as its first e-commerce site. The site will be headed by director of e-commerce Glen Glisinski.
The new retail site, which replaces an earlier version at the same web address that served as a corporate information site, was designed by Toronto-based Grip Ltd. and developed on an e-commerce platform from Montreal-based iCongo Inc. Consultants J.C. Williams Group Ltd., also based in Toronto, provided strategic planning for the new site.
“The challenge facing all retailers in today’s climate is to remain relevant and top-of-mind with both your current and future clients,” says Harry Rosen, CEO, and chairman Larry Rosen, whose father, executive chairman Harry Rosen, co-founded the company in 1954 with his brother Lou Rosen. “When we look at the next generation of clients—even when I look at my own teenaged sons—we can see that we need to sell our merchandise online to introduce them to our brand and get them into our stores, where we can develop a personal relationship with them.”
Harry Rosen hired Glisinski a year ago as director of e-commerce as it was planning for its new e-commerce site, a spokeswoman says. With the new site, Glisinski will lead a staff including an e-commerce buyer and a customer service team.
Glisinski joined Harry Rosen from footwear e-retailer SoftMoc Inc., where he was director of e-commerce. Earlier, he was an Internet specialist at retailer Durham Radio Sales.
