Barry Erdos, who resigned in December as president of web-only fashion apparel retailer Bluefly Inc., has been named CEO of multichannel toy retailer FAO Schwarz.
“I’m extremely proud and excited to be part of one of the most iconic and prestigious retail brands in the world,” Erdos says.
Erdos replaces Edward Schmults, who has resigned. Schmults took the job at the toy retailer in late 2005 after working as chief operating officer at online gifts retailer RedEnvelope Inc., now part of the Provide Commerce unit of Liberty Media Corp., No. 11 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
Erdos took over as CEO at Bluefly in January 2008 after working as president and chief operating officer at multichannel retailer Build-a-Bear Workshop Inc. Before that, he was executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer at women’s apparel retailer Ann Taylor Stores Corp.
Bluefly is No. 128 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide and Build-a-Bear Workshop No. 417.
