The growth of mobile commerce and applications has been good for Keynote Systems Inc., provider of Internet testing and measurement services. Keynote’s fiscal year 2008 revenue grew 13.5% to $76.9 million from $67.8 million a year ago, the company reported this week. Fourth quarter revenue was $21.1 million, up 18.6% from $17.8 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2007.
A lot of the growth was the result of Keynote’s entrance into the mobile testing market two years ago. “Our Mobile Test and Measurement business was the main driver of this growth, increasing 61% in the fourth quarter and 63% in the year as a whole,” says Umang Gupta, chairman and CEO. “We believe our strong balance sheet combined with our diverse product portfolio forms a solid foundation for us to perform well even in the current adverse financial climate.”
Keynote’s net loss was $3.1 million for the year compared to $4.7 million in the prior year. Net loss for the fourth quarter was $631,000, compared to a net loss of $3.5 million for the fourth quarter of 2007.
At the end of its fiscal year, Sept. 30, Keynote’s worldwide customer base reached 2,800 companies. As of Sept., 30, Keynote reports it measured approximately 14,100 Internet pages, as compared to 11,600 Internet pages in the same quarter a year ago.
