Online sales at footwear manufacturer and retailer Skechers USA Inc. rose 11% year-over-year from $4.07 million in Q2 2007 to $4.52 million for the second quarter ended June 30, as total sales grew only 0.6% from $352.2 million in Q2 2007 to $354.57 million, and U.S. comp store sales declined 9.7%, the retailer says.
Q2 e-commerce sales accounted for 1.3% of total sales, compared to 1.2% in the year-ago period.
For the six months ended June 30, e-commerce sales grew 15.1% year-over-year to $8.59 million, as total sales grew 6.1% to $739.50 million. First-half e-commerce sales accounted for 1.2% of total sales, compared to 1.1% a year ago.
For the first six months of fiscal 2008, overall sales increased 6.1% to $739.5 million compared with net sales of $697.1 million in the first six months of 2007.
Skechers, No. 362 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, operates 207 stores, including 17 outside the U.S. The company has reported relatively strong growth overseas, where Q2 comp store sales rose 5.9%. Comp store sales are sales at stores open at least a year.
