Zazzle and Keds tie the knot on shoe customization

Zazzle.com Inc. is helping Keds introduce product customization and personalization to Keds.com.

Zazzle, No. 211 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, has partnered with Keds, a division of the The Stride Rite Corp., to launch Keds Studio, an online customization program that lets shoppers design the graphics for their own original Keds’ Champions, the classic lace-up and canvas gym shoe.

The Keds Studio program, built and hosted by Zazzle, lets users create original Keds’ designs by placing their own art work, graphics and text directly on a digital version of the pair of shoes they are purchasing. In addition consumers are able to choose from a wide selection of colors and pre-made designs, some designed by such artists as Sarah Singh and artists from Gen Art, an organization that showcases work from emerging fashion designers, says Keds. The site, live now, is available at Zazzle.com/shoes for pre-designed templates created by artists and Zazzle.com/custom/shoes for those who want to create their own designs. The customized shoes are produced within 24 to 48 hours and shipped to consumers within one to two weeks, says Keds.

Keds Studio offers five styles of Keds' Champions for women and kids that are fully customizable. Styles include lace-ups, slip-ons and mini-slip-ons ranging in price from $50 to $60.

“This event marks the beginning of a new era in customization, where products are built from scratch - literally - and embellished to the user's exact specification,” says Zazzle chief product officer Jeff Beaver.
