NetShops hires former Google exec as its first chief marketing officer

NetShops Inc., which operates more than 200 niche e-commerce sites, has hired Ash ElDifrawi as the company’s first chief marketing officer. He will be responsible for online marketing, search engine optimization, brand marketing, strategic planning and corporate communications.

ElDifrawi previously was an executive at Google Inc. with responsibility for brand advertising for Google and for the search engine’s YouTube unit. He previously held executive positions at chewing gum and candy manufacturer William Wrigley Jr. Company and consulting firm McKinsey & Company. ElDifrawi holds a doctorate in clinical psychology.

"As our company continues to grow at a significant rate, it became clear we needed strong marketing leadership to take us to the next level,” says Carter Cast, NetShops CEO. “Ash will lead all our marketing efforts to ensure consumers fully understand NetShops’ unique value proposition, as well as building strong equity in our brand with consumers and advertisers to ensure sustainable long-term growth."

NetShops, based in Omaha, NB, is No. 104 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
