ShopNBC boosts recovery rate of surplus goods sold through online auctions

By marketing surplus merchandise in online auctions on Liquidity Services Inc.’s Liquidation.com, ShopNBC realized a recovery rate 500% higher than expected for excess sporting goods from its FanBuzz division, Liquidity Services reports.

FanBuzz, which provides e-commerce services for licensed sporting goods marketers, including the National Hockey League and the Boston Celtics, is now using Liquidity Services as its sole outlet to sell surplus sports memorabilia and clothing, including out-of-date and damaged merchandise.

“LSI’s marketing efforts have given me renewed confidence in rapidly selling our damaged and surplus inventory at higher recovery rates,” said Cathi Resatar, licensing coordinator for FanBuzz. “Our highest single auction generated a return of $4.43 per item on merchandise that was already off the books.”
