The Apprentice teaches ShopNBC.com a lesson in online marketing

The final episode of the popular TV show The Apprentice drove a fourfold increase in traffic and sales to the NBC-TV portion of ValueVision Media’s ShopNBC.com, the company tells InternetRetailer.com.

"The traffic and sales came largely from one 10-second spot during the last episode driving viewers to ShopNBC.com," a ShopNBC spokesman says.

Of the Top 10 selling items at ShopNBC last Thursday, the day the episode aired, six were The Apprentice items. Nos. 1 and 2 were a T-shirt and a mug that said, "You’re fired."

"It shows the power of monetizing the network viewer base, which is why NBC acquired 40% of our company," the spokesman says.
