Conference Agenda Summary

42 Conference Speakers
25 Separate Conference Sessions

A retail web site's design is what engages shoppers and ensures that they stay to explore more of the site. The Internet Retailer Web Design Conference '09 will help online retailers understand all the elements of design: analyzing ROI, picking a partner, optimizing for search marketing, making sure the design continues to do what it was intended to do, and more.

Main Conference Day One Jan 20

The first day kicks off with a keynote address by the head of e-commerce at Neiman Marcus, which operates one of the handsomest sites on the web. It also walks attendees through understanding when it's time for a redesign, how to choose a design partner, how to prioritize a design plan and how to create a first-class site on a budget. It also features on-the-spot site usability analysis of attendees' sites.

Main Conference Day Two Jan 21

The second day starts with a featured address by the head of e-commerce at Borders, which built a state-of-art web site from scratch. It will also address balancing internal needs with marketing goals, making sure your search engine landing pages are designed to sell and making the most of emerging technology. It also features on-the-spot analysis of sites for search engine optimization.

Post Conference Workshop Jan 22

In a series of highly interactive sessions, Web Design Conference's Post-Conference Workshop will feature before-and-after case studies of retail web site redesigns, taking attendees through real-life overhauls of web sites' designs. The afternoon will feature sessions in which attendees can volunteer their sites for live, on-the-spot, in-depth analysis of how the design can be improved.

Who Attends IRWD '09

Given the rave reviews received by the first Web Design '08 Conference last January (See Attendee Ratings), we expect more than 1,200 attendees at the second annual Internet Retailer Web Design ’09 Conference, up from 800 at IRWD 08. IRWD 09 is expected to attract the same diverse set of attendees as the first show, which drew e-retailers from retail chains, catalog firms, web-only merchants, consumer product manufacturers, consumer service companies and Internet solution providers—all of which have retail web sites with significant growth potential. Attendees represent a wide range of corporate sizes—with about a third coming from large firms (over $100 million), a third from mid-sized enterprises ($10-$100 million) and a third from companies under $10 million. In terms of functions and titles, the attendees at the Internet Retailer Web Design Conference fall into three primary categories—corporate or strategic officers, top marketing executives and web site developers and operators.
