9:30 - 10:15 a.m. Principles of site design: When to follow the rules, when to break them Jennifer Bailey,
Usability Services Manager, ForeSee Results Troy Lawson,
CTO, BestKiteBoarding.com Online shoppers have come to expect that web sites will have a certain appearance and navigation protocol. For instance, the navigation bar will appear on the left, price and add to cart features will appear to the right of the product and so on. This session will feature an expert who will discuss: What are the standard features on web sites that consumers expect? What are the consequences of not using standard web site navigation? How does a retailer know whether a site's elements are meeting consumers' expectations? But sometimes rules are made to be broken. And so this session will also explore: When should a retailer deviate from the standards? And how does a retailer differentiate its web site if there are design standards that must be followed? Our second speaker is a retailer who will discuss how his company achieved its design, what went into the decisions to use various elements and how the company breaks design rules and why. |
