Internet Retailer publisher Jack Love invites you to attend the world's largest conference in e-retailing at the San Jose Convention Center June 4-7, 2007, where more than 4,000 online merchants from retail chains, catalog firms, web-only merchants and consumer manufacturers will share ideas and experiences on the one thing they have in common: web-based retailing. In his invitation to online merchants to attend IRCE 2007, Jack explains what makes Internet Retailer 2007 Conference & Exhibition stand apart from all others in the e-retailing industry and why the conference theme (The Web: Powering the Reinvention of Retailing) makes this the must-attend event for all retailers. We expect 4,300 total attendees for this third annual Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition, or 25% more than last year, a conservative estimate based on the growth of the previous the two previous Internet Retailer events. One thing we do know: Merchants from every type of retail channel attend this event, making it the only show where you can get e-retailing ideas from every corner of the retail business. No other conference draws such a richly diverse group of retailing companies. Here are all the stats:

Keynote speakers Jim McCann, the founder and CEO or 1-800-Flowers.com and Reed Hastings, the founder and CEO of Netflix, head up a faculty of 103 e-retailing pros who will speak at IRCE 2007 on a wide spectrum of web-based retailing trends, practices and issues. Two things distinguish this conference faculty from others in the e-retailing field. First, they are selected by Internet Retailer's editors based solely on their knowledge of the e-retailing topic they are addressing and not on their membership in an association holding the show or because of their patronage to a vendor sponsoring it. Second, as a group the speakers at IR2007 mirror the diversity of the entire e-retailing market and represent all players in that market, assuring that all experiences and points of view are aired.

Nowhere on the planet is there an exhibition like this—one that matches the depth and breadth of the conference sessions. Are you wondering what an odd-looking spaceship, the 1903 Wright Flyer and IRCE 2007 have in common and why we put them together on the home page image? You're probably not alone, but there's a good explanation.

Four 90-Minute Sessions Per Workshop

Marketing Your Retail Web Site
The workshop focuses on advanced marketing strategies for e-retailers in the areas of search engine marketing and optimization, e-mail marketing, affiliate marketing and leading edge marketing tactics, such as podcasts, blogs and RSS feeds.

Manage Online Payments to Maximize Profits
The workshop informs e-retailers how to negotiate deals with payments processors, how to meet payment companies' new security mandates, how to spot and combat the latest frauds and which alternatives to credit cards offer the most opportunity for incremental sales.

The first day of the main conference is keynoted by Jim McCann, CEO of 1-800-Flowers.com and examines how the Internet creates a brand new retailing and merchandising model, one that is vastly different from conventional store and catalog businesses, which themselves are dramatically changed by the web. It reveals the latest strategies that are making online retailers more successful, studies the new online consumers and what they expect from retailers today, explains how retailers can make better use e-Bay and other shopping portals, and looks at how major chains use the web to grow in a changing retail market. Three breakout tracks in the afternoon examine how retailers should evaluate the latest e-retailing technology, what larger retailers need to know to create successful online businesses in a multi-channel environment, and the opportunities that smaller businesses have to thrive in online retailing market.

The second day of the main conference is keynoted by Reed Hastings, founder and CEO of Netflix, and includes general sessions that analyze changes in the e-retail market identified by Internet Retailer's latest study of the Top 500 online retailers. Other general sessions examine how the Internet creates niche market opportunities, reveals the huge potential of mobile e-commerce, discusses the latest applications of the web in multi-channel retailing and looks at the tug of war over Internet regulation that has a profound impact on e-retailers. Three afternoon breakout tracks focus on advanced online merchandising techniques, new marketing and content imperatives for success online, and a continuation of the June 5 track on the opportunities for smaller e-retailers.

Four 90-minute Sessions

Designing Retail Web Sites That Sell
We have added an extra day to IRCE 2007 to feature a new workshop that includes sessions on the latest design concepts; original research for this conference on the use of rich media, how to make it work and which kinds create sales; identifying and overcoming internal obstacles to a site's navigability; and making sure that factors not under a retailer's control, such as the kind of browser a consumer uses, do not hamper a web site's accessibility.
