Boris Wertz is the Chief Operating Officer of Abebooks, the world's largest online marketplace for new and used books, which celebrates its tenth anniversary in May, and which, according to Internet Retailer's Top 400 Guide, is the country's 58th largest e-retail business with 2004 online revenues of $130 million. Boris was one of the founders of JustBooks, the German company that Abebooks.com acquired in fall 2001. At JustBooks, he was responsible for marketing, business development and IT as well as the international expansion of the company into the UK and France. In 2002, Boris joined the team at Abebooks headquarters in Victoria, BC, as Vice President, Marketing & Business Development, and was promoted to COO in 2003. Boris has a doctorate degree in business economics and management from the WHU Graduate School of Management, in Koblenz, Germany, and bachelor's degree in business administration from the Ecole de Management in Lyon, France. During his graduate studies he worked for various companies, including PriceWaterhouseCoopers and BNP Paribas.
