Wayne D. Kimmel, Managing Director, Eastern Technology Fund
Wayne D. Kimmel is a Managing Director of Eastern Technology Fund, a venture fund that invests in technology and healthcare
companies. Eastern Technology Fund and its affiliated funds—NewSpring Ventures and Merion Investment Partners—manage over
$250 million. Its portfolio includes: NutriSystem: 2005's No. 1 performing stock in the United States; SeamlessWeb Professional
Solutions: No. 1 ranking among Internet-based services companies in the 2005 Deloitte Technology Fast 500; and Take Care Health
Systems, which recently raised $77 million, the largest capital raised in health care services in two years and the largest of
its kind in retail healthcare. Wayne is on the board of directors and the Investment Committee of NewSpring Ventures, a $135
million fund and is also Managing Director of ETF Partners-OPG, a joint venture between ETF Partners and O'Neill Properties
Group. Wayne serves on several boards of the Eastern Technology Fund's portfolio companies and he frequently lectures on
technology, management, and venture capital at various universities, corporations and seminars. Wayne was the 2003 Co-Chairman
of Early Stage East, the Mid-Atlantic region's premier Early Stage venture showcase. He is also an active member of the Greater
Philadelphia Venture Group and its Education Outreach Committee, and serves on several committees for the Mid-Atlantic Venture
Conference. Furthermore, he was a Commissioner on former Philadelphia Mayor Edward Rendell's E-Commerce Commission, a task force
designed to measure and promote electronic commerce in the Greater Philadelphia region. Kimmel is also an attorney and he practiced
law with the law firm of Kimmel, Carter, Roman & Peltz, P.A. Wayne received his undergraduate degree from the University of
Maryland at College Park, and his law degree from the Widener University School of Law.
