Staples Inc. has hired its first executive vice president of marketing.

Frank Bifulco, who has logged time at The Home Depot Inc., Coca-Cola and Timberland, will oversee marketing for Staples stores and e-commerce sites.

Bifulco was the chief marketing officer at the Home Depot until 2011. Since then, he has served as a member of the board of directors of such companies as Things Remembered Inc. and DentalPlans.com, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to Home Depot, he held marketing positions at Coca Cola and Timberland and was the president of North American sales at toy company Hasbro.

“Frank is a passionate leader who brings an immense wealth of marketing, analytic and sales experience at some of the world’s most-respected companies to Staples,” says Ron Sargent, chairman and chief executive officer at Staples. “He will help us build on the success of our Make More Happen brand launch as we continue to let customers know that Staples has every product their business needs to succeed.”

Staples launched the “Make More Happen” tagline earlier this year. It’s the first update to the office supply chain’s tagline. The accompanying campaign aims to show how Staples can help business succeed.
