Flash sales let Newegg add new product categories.
Consumer electronics retailer Newegg Inc. this year launched a daily-deals site, Newegg Flash. Not only does the site feature limited-time offers of up to 30% off electronics, but the retailer has branched into other categories, including apparel, makeup, housewares and jewelry. Each day, Newegg Flash adds about a dozen new sales. Most of them last a week, though some are as short as 15 hours. In addition to sharing particular sales with friends via Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter or Tumblr, shoppers can share a link to the entire web site by e-mail through a pop-up form on the home page. Newegg also made its flash-sale site available via iPhone and Android apps, which customers can download by scanning an on-screen QR code or visiting the Apple App Store or Google Play.
