That includes 10,000 seasonal workers for its distribution centers and 3,000 to help stores cater to cross-channel shoppers.
Michael Relich becomes chief operating officer for the Top 500 retailer.
Guess Inc. has promoted one of its e-commerce leaders to chief operating officer. Michael Relich takes over that job after working since 2004 as the apparel manufacturer and retailer’s chief information officer.
He reports to Paul Marciano, co-founder and CEO. Guess is No. 298 in the most recent edition of Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide. The company had Internet Retailer-estimated sales of $50.7 million in 2012, up 5% from the year before.
Relich’s previous responsibilities included such areas as information technology, distribution and what Guess calls “strategic planning.” Those skills will serve him well in his new job, Marciano says.
“I believe, more than ever, that the integration of technology, speed, and brand synergy is vital for our success,” he says. “Michael's proven experience in these areas makes him a great fit as our new chief operating officer.”
Before Guess, Relich worked as chief information officer for another Top 500 retailer, The Wet Seal Inc. The seller of teen apparel ranks as No. 361 in the guide, which says that 61% of its shoppers are girls and women.
