Backcountry.com said today it has promoted Brendan Quirk to executive vice president of customer experience. Quirk was general manager of the e-retailer’s bike division.

Backcountry.com is part of Liberty Interactive Corp., No. 7 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. Backcountry.com says Quirk will oversee “every aspect of the customer experience across all specialty retail brands in the Backcountry.com family.”

Quirk joined Backcountry.com in September 2011, after the e-retailer bought Competitive Cyclist, an e-retailer that Quirk co-founded in 1999 and where he was CEO. Drew Medlock, general merchandise manager for bicycles, takes over Quirk’s old job as leader of the e-retailer’s bike division.

“A huge factor in Competitive Cyclist’s success has been Brendan’s obsession with product content and the customer experience,” says Jill Layfield, Backcountry.com’s CEO. “He has a 12-year track record of truly differentiating the Competitive Cyclist brand. In his new role, Brendan will continue to guide the brand experience for Competitive Cyclist, as well as for Backcountry.com and Dogfunk.com.”
