Pandora.com lets subscribers build personalized online radio stations.
Pandora.com is a personalized online music service that’s evolved since its launch in 2000 to become a well-rounded source for music discovery. Site users can enter their favorite musicians or songs to build unique radio stations. The stations are based on similarities among hundreds of musical details on thousands of tracks—such as melody, harmony, rhythm, vocals and lyrics—that Pandora has organized in its database. Stations show artwork from albums containing song selections and the user can create a new station by hovering his mouse over the cover and choosing to build a station based on the song or the artist. The company also redesigned its mobile app for both Apple and Android smartphones in October. Upgrades include more details on artists.
