Apple.com produced the best high broadband access times among 20 large web retailers tested in October, according to Compuware Gomez. Last month, Apple.com posted the fastest response time in Internet Explorer tests with an average load time of 0.76 seconds and the fastest Firefox load time, with an average of 0.69 seconds.

Costco.com finished in second place in Internet Explorer tests at 1.39 seconds, followed by Dell.com (1.40), LLBean.com (1.60) and Walmart.com (1.62).

LLBean.com finished second in last month’s Firefox response time tests with an average of 0.81 seconds. Dell.com (0.93) came in third, followed by Costco.com (0.96) and Overstock.com (1.06).

The average large retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Internet Explorer in October was 2.26 seconds, the Gomez study shows. The average Firefox response time among the same group of retailers was 1.97 seconds.
