Apple leads September response time tests

Apple posted the best Internet Explorer and Firefox response times, Gomez says.

Apple.com produced the best high broadband access times among 20 large web retailers tested in September, according to Compuware Gomez. Last month, Apple.com posted the fastest response time in Internet Explorer tests with an average load time of 0.82 seconds and the fastest Firefox load time, with an average of 0.72 seconds.

Costco.com finished in second place for Internet Explorer tests at 1.32 seconds, followed by Dell.com (1.39), LLBean.com (1.50) and Overstock.com (1.66).

LLBean.com finished second in last month’s Firefox response time tests with an average of 0.77 seconds. Overstock.com (1.07) came in third, followed by Dell.com (1.09) and Costco.com (1.34).

In September, the average large retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Internet Explorer was 2.21 seconds, the Gomez study shows. The average Firefox response time among the same group of retailers last month was 1.94 seconds.
