The Finish Line Inc., a store and web retailer of athletic apparel, shoes and accessories, has appointed Scott Hoffman as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.

“This appointment is about more than recognizing how much our company has grown,” says Sam Sato, president of the Finish Line brand. “It also signals our whole-hearted commitment to aggressively growing our business.”

Hoffman will oversee efforts to improve the customer experience across all its channels, Sato says.

Since 2009 Hoffman has served as managing director at the Echo Design Group, a home and fashion marketing and distribution company. Before that, he worked as a merchandiser and a buyer at Steve & Barry’s, Brooks Brothers, Armani Exchange and Lord & Taylor, the Finish Line says.

Last month, the Finish Line and Running Specialty Group kicked off Run.com, a niche e-commerce and information site for runners.

The Finish Line is No. 151 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. Brooks Brothers is No. 156 and Armani Exchange is No. 293.
