Emilia Fabricant, who resigned earlier this month as president of bebe stores inc., has taken a job as executive vice president with Aeropostale Inc. She reports to CEO Thomas Johnson and oversees the apparel brand’s design, merchandising and production activities.

Bebe, a women’s apparel retail chain, is No. 371 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. Aeropostale is No. 114.

In announcing Fabricant’s resignation, which became effective Aug. 17, bebe stores said she was leaving for personal reasons. Fabricant joined bebe in August 2010 from women’s apparel retailer Charlotte Russe, No. 364 in the Top 500. She was president and chief marketing officer.

"We are thrilled to have someone of Emilia's caliber and talent join the Aeropostale team,” Johnson says. “Emilia has a proven track record of creating and executing the type of merchandise and operating strategies that will enable us to continue to evolve our brand. Emilia will be an incredible asset to our organization, and we look forward to her many contributions to our business."
