The search giant today launched an app called Inbox that could force retailers to change their e-mail marketing strategies.
Paul Todd also worked for e-commerce technology provider Reardon Commerce.
EBay Inc. has hired Paul Todd as vice president of strategy for eBay Marketplaces. He reports to marketplaces president Devin Wenig.
Todd was chief product officer at Reardon Commerce Inc., a provider of online marketing technology. He oversaw Reardon’s product strategy in apps for travel and entertainment, purchasing, mobile and offers, and launched new products in the United Kingdom, Canada and Mexico, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Before Reardon, Todd was product management director at Google Inc. While there from 2007 until 2010, he developed Google’s travel strategy, which led to the $700 million acquisition of travel technology company ITA Software, eBay says.
Todd also spent a decade as a partner at management consulting firm McKinsey & Co., where he led the company’s North American high-technology strategy practice. He also spent more than seven years as a product and engineering manager for now-defunct Imperial Chemical Industries.
EBay did not reveal Todd’s specific responsibilities in his new job.
