In its second-largest acquisition, Amazon buys the company for $970 million.
Scott Brenton is the e-retailer’s latest hire from Angie’s List.
After 13 years as chief operating officer at consumer review company Angie’s List, Scott Brenton is moving to e-commerce site operator One Click Ventures. He will begin his job as the company’s first chief marketing officer May 1.
In addition to managing all aspects of One Click Ventures’ marketing, Brenton will lead development of its nine consumer brands, which primarily sell fashion, accessories and travel products through such e-commerce sites as SunglassWarehouse.com and ABCNecktimes.com.
One Click Ventures is no. 788 in the Internet Retailer Second 500 Guide.
Brenton helped to develop the online marketplace for Angie’s List, which provides consumer reviews for professional services such as plumbing or medicine. He also created and managed the company’s customer service center.
“Scott's business-to-consumer accomplishments at Angie's List and his strong leadership skills will be tremendously valuable as we continue to accelerate One Click's growth by acquiring new brands and growing our existing portfolio of brands,” says Randy Stocklin, One Click Ventures co-founder and CEO.
Both Stocklin and One Click chief financial officer Keith Midkiff are also former Angie’s List employees.
