Walgreens.com, the e-retail arm of the nation’s largest drug store retailer, experienced long load times Monday, according to web site performance monitor provider AlertBot.

The Walgreen Co. did not immediately respond to inquiries about the site issues.

AlertBot says the Walgreen.com home page failed to load for some users starting at 10:15 a.m. Central. The issue lasted about an hour, but some consumers during that time were still able to access the site. Consumers who couldn’t get through saw a message that stated the site was “unusually busy at the moment.” The issues continued intermittently through 2 p.m., AlertBot says.

Walgreens.com is No. 73 in Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide.

At the Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition 2012, Kevin Diamond, chief technology officer, HauteLook, and Lelah Manz, chief strategist for commerce, Akamai Technologies Inc., will speak in a session entitled “My web site is down!
