E-business investor Kabbage hires a former Amazon executive

Sam Wheeler has been hired as vice president of business development.

Kabbage Inc., a company that provides funding to small and midsized online businesses, has hired Sam Wheeler as vice president of business development. Wheeler will be responsible for building relationships with data providers, online marketplaces and other potential distribution vehicles.

"It is critical that we commence and extend our relationship with a wide variety of marketplaces, data partners and other distribution sources,” says Marc Gorlin, Kabbage chairman. “We have spent considerable time and effort to identify the right person to lead this enormous task and Sam is clearly the best choice.”

Wheeler most recently was vice president of sales and customer experience at marketing software vendor Optify . Before that he was director of small business services at Amazon.com Inc., No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
